She was found on the streets with another dog and taken to a shelter at the end of January. She was very shut down and scared at the shelter and was typically seen curled up in a ball while in the kennel. She was at risk of being euthanized when thankfully Deborah offered to foster her via the shelter!
On Sunday she was taken back to the shelter for a playgroup evaluation so was in an intake kennel and when a staff member went to take her to the yard she bolted and the intake door was open so she escaped the shelter. Her foster was worried sick and asked us for help…we’re so grateful to Deborah, Antonia, Carol and Jacqui for jumping in to help search; Kirby gave us quite the scare as she was seen on the service road of the interstate as it was getting dark last night, yikes!
They set up a feeding station and the shelter put up a camera. We’re happy to report that another shelter foster brought tempting treats after locating her today and she and Deborah were able to lure her and got a leash on her!
Since Deborah was willing to continue fostering we were able to welcome Kirby into our care! She’s estimated to be 12 years old and we’re so glad she’s in a warm, loving home instead of out on the streets! We have such a soft spot for the shy dogs and look forward to seeing her blossom!
