Winnie was rescued from the streets of a Dallas neighborhood where she had been roaming for over three years. She was shy, smart, and knew how to outsmart anyone who attempted to catch her. She lived through multiple summers, winters, and a leg injury likely caused from being hit by a car. Luckily neighbors were feeding and looking out for her.
One of our volunteers moved into the neighborhood and worked hard to gain Winnie's trust for months. Finally, Winnie decided she was ready to be rescued and walked right through the front door and into her new life.
Winnie is one of the goofiest dogs we have ever met. She is a very smart girl who wants to please but needs a little time to get comfortable. Once you are friends, you are friends for life.
Since moving into her foster home, Winnie has begun to learn that the world isn't so scary and makes progress every day. She loves to be pet and will patiently sit and stare at you until she gets a ear rub. She also loves other pups,
toys (especially balls and plush toys), and is the queen of playing chase.
Winnie is independent and a total love. She is happy being with you outside or snoozing on her bed by the window. Due to her being nervous in new situations, she will will need another pup to show her the ropes. Her three foster sisters have set a good example so far.
If you are looking for a smart and hilarious companion, Winnie is your girl. Her adoption fee is $225 and that covers her spay, vaccinations and microchip. Please email info@thestreetdogproject.org if you have any questions. You can complete an adoption application for Winnie here: https://www.thestreetdogproject.org/adopt
