Rottweiler / Hound / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Large Learn more about the Rottweiler.
We welcomed Bear after he'd been dumped on the streets of South Texas. He faithfully waited at a stop sign for weeks and a Good Samaritan befriended him and reached out for help. She shared photos of Bear cuddling and once we found out about his situation we jumped at the opportunity to help! Bear is such a sweet and gentle boy. Bear is thriving in foster care and gets along well with the other three dogs in the home, both larger and smaller than he. We haven’t seen him with small dogs (under 20 pounds), but do not expect a problem. He is not a jumper and is not mouthy, so kids should be fine. Bear is crate trained and does well in the car. He does not pull on the leash, but is still working on walking manners. Bear is so willing to please, this will be easily corrected. We think he would be fine with dog friendly cats with appropriate introductions. He ignores the squirrels in the backyard. He really enjoys being outside, just walking around and laying in the sun so we think he would appreciate a back yard. He doesn’t have to have another dog. His people will be the most important thing to him. He will follow you from room to room and want to stay close. Bear is a very sweet dog who will make a wonderful addition to a lucky family! Bear's adoption fee is $225 and that covers his neuter, vaccinations and microchip. Bear is heartworm positive (common in Texas because there are so many darn mosquitoes). TSDP will cover his treatment at one of our vet clinics and then he just needs to be kept on monthly heartworm prevention. We estimate he was born around Feb 2013 and he's about 60 lbs.
