They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure and that’s exactly how Duke’s foster mom feels about him! After being adopted from a Dallas Animal Shelter in January, TSDP volunteers came across Duke while in a South Dallas neighborhood attempting to catch a stray dog. Because Duke was so friendly the volunteers were able to capture him and took him to DAS to be scanned for a microchip. Sadly, upon reaching his former owners, they decided to surrender Duke to the shelter. TSDP acted quickly to pull Duke from the shelter and he has settled in nicely in his foster home over the past month!

Duke is estimated to be about two years old, 60lbs of love and a laid back and mellow dude for sure! He is a total sweetheart, gentle, and smart! Duke thinks he is a lap dog, loves nothing more than to snuggle, and to be near his person! Duke likes to play with his toys inside, lounge on the porch, and run around the dog park with his fur-sister and new dog friends, too! Duke would do great in a home with a resident dog or with a family that has a backyard or who could take him on walks. Duke would be happiest with a family that has an active lifestyle. He has become accustomed to going to the dog park for several hours each day since being in his foster home and seems more relaxed and content after a long walk or playtime

Duke is doing awesome at house training although his foster mom makes sure to take him outside every few hours when they are lounging around the house. He is accustom to sleeping in his crate at night and during the day when his mom is at work and is learning basic commands like “sit” and “no”.

Duke does amazingly well on a leash and enjoys daily walks. He doesn’t pull when he sees squirrels or rabbits or bark at other dogs or people. His foster mom wishes her dog was as good as Duke on a leash Duke is friendly and likes meeting new people, but is shy at first. Slow introductions with both people and dogs is best. He is so sweet and gentle and wants to trust people..he just needs a little time.

Duke is simply an amazing dog who deserves an even more amazing fam!
