About Maggie

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black
  • Current Age: 18 Years 9 Months (best estimate)

It's been six weeks since a nice lady found me scavenging the streets, struggling to survive. I had a severe skin infection, old injuries to my back legs that made it hard to get around and worst of all…I was so hungry. Honestly, its really hard living on the streets and I was tired.

Little did I know that my world was about to take a turn ...for the better!

The Street Dog Project took me in and gave me a chance when I needed it the most. They named me Maggie.

I've been to the vet and the nice people there fixed my skin so it isn't itchy anymore and they gave me some medicine so it doesn’t hurt to walk like it used to.

I moved into a temp foster home and I'm told that I have been the perfect guest. I'm so quiet and easy to have around. I know that I go potty outside and haven't had one accident in the house. My foster mom says that I have a cute trot when I get excited. I have even learned that toys are pretty fun. I have been eating like crazy since I've been here and have gained 15 lbs. I'm almost back to my normal weight and my hair has all grown back.

I'm looking for a longer term foster or even better, a forever home. I'll be bringing my awesome bed so we just need to make sure you have room for it as it's my prized possession. Ok, it really isn't all that big, but I do like it a lot.

Our friends at the vet think that I am between 9-10 years old and I think that just means that I am more mature. My best day ever would be just sitting beside you. I sometimes like to take a short walk down the street and back but not too far because my legs still get sore. Let's be honest, I have done enough walking when I was on the streets and now I'm just ready to rest and find someone that will love me. I've heard that some dogs even get their own collar and that means they are part of a family.  I really hope I can have  my own collar, too, some day.

I still have medical needs, but TSDP will pay for all of my future care with the nice people at the vet including lifetime medications.  I'm really glad I found them.

Please email my TSDP friends at info@thestreetdogproject.org if you're interested in getting to know me better.

Love,
Maggie
